Ported Exhaust Manifolds I ported my exhaust manifolds while I was doing my exhaust studs replacement. I found that I couldn't port as much material as I originally thought since the welds are on the INSIDE of the manifold. Yes, this impedes in the airflow tremendously. In order to port all the obstructive material out of the airflow, I would have to put welds on the outside of the flange to reinforce the manifold. This is so the flange doesn't weaken. I didn't do any welding, instead, I just ported as much as I could safely without compromising the strength of the flanges. I doubt this made any serious difference in the 1/4 mile. But, every little bit helps. For more pictures, you can visit my Exhaust Stud Replacement and Exhaust Manifold Porting page. |
